w38 sunday review

a week score of 57% amuses the crowd

scoring the week from my habit tracker:

my daily scores from the ten dailies were 8, 7, 9, 5, 3, 4, 4.

Which you would THINK indicated that I fell down the stairs on Thursday, or caught ebola, or had some kind of crisis. but no, I just drifted off to read on the sofa & 'catch up on youtube' & do little household tasks that aren't on the tracker. that makes a week score of 57%. It's kind of a problem that I don't feel bad about that? I know it wasn't really bad, it's just drawn that way.

Vitally, I'm not going to react to that bad week by stopping doing the 12weekyear. This is still week 3 of 12 and next week is still week 4, it doesn't become week 1 again. I have fallen for that before.

things that will only need doing once:

  • accessed the S112 course website when it opened and added the dates to my calendar, wrote the syllabus outline on sticky notes and added them to my planner on the relevant weeks
  • designated an A5 notebook from the stash to be the S112 notebook and added the - oh, what do they call them - the skills, you know, the things they intended the course to teach you, beyond the literal facts, like 'evaluating sources' and 'communicating results'. and started taking notes on the first week's resources.
  • sent a couple of robust emails clarifying the parts of the recipient's job that I'm not going to be doing for her. I'm so good at clear communication and everyone should be delighted about it!

things worth mentioning

  • did the w38 links and recs roundup post.
  • it's rained often enough that the garden never really dried out enough to cut the hedge (I know how cheap my tools were, I know not to use them on wet green wood).
  • one or more of the changes to the laptop refresh rate and brightness has fixed the desk headaches. this is excellent, if unnerving.
  • read on the ereader, not sure if I kept Storygraph updated... I had not. I have now. (It's okay to open a book review with 'Harold, they're lesbians.' isn't it?)
  • made bread rolls in the air fryer - we kept them small so that the centres would cook before the tops burned, so they were more like dough balls. tear apart, eat with butter.
  • i did not turn my phone off for the weekend, and appblock says my screen time was 18h. but compare this to the dark times a few months ago, since installing appblock, I was doing 10h and 11h a day. I haven't earned a coast trip next week, that was going to be the reward for keeping it under 14h.
  • i have been better at journalling about what's actually happening instead of meta-journalling about what i should be doing & looping about my values & obstacles.

intents for w39

  • continue migrating back to A5 rings (I switched to TN for the aesthetic but it never lasts) & trying to keep ALL the goals in one location.
  • pick blackberries (last full week before Michaelmas)
  • fiction writing in the designated notebook
  • finish the first section of S112 (scale and notation)
