w40 sunday review

a week total of 48% reflects the weather

Well, there goes the sun.

The ten dailies on my habit tracker went 4, 7, 4, 1, 6, 7.

You can see the day I saw my traditional winter crash coming and went 'no, not yet', can't you?

I know my body wants to go back to bed for four months each year. I have felt it happen before, & I survived when I had jobs & I survived when I had other people to tidy up after & I will be damned if I let that pattern waste a third of each year now that I'm free. Everything on my planner is mine, now. Other years I let my own activities drop away for winter & used my shreds of energy on other people's tasks. This winter, & the next fifty winters, I'm being selfish.

things worth mentioning

  • I not only outlined a story at 100 word level, I started writing it. it's called the tinker's second pack & it's about the day she acquired it.
  • Rewrote my first week of course notes from its own notebook to a section in my A5 rings - silly to keep it separate when I have room in the thing that goes everywhere with me. Started the second week of notes: igneous sedimentary metamorphic. That'll end up as just one page, I reckon - the course is weirdly inefficient.
  • The month-end review for September went surprisingly smoothly. New inserts helped (illus.). I did the bare minimum reading roundup post; it's just the graphics that Storygraph generates. I have been reviewing finished books briefly on Storygraph, so maybe the next one will include some actual reviews.

  • I had written down that if I 'study and track in public' in September I would get £20 to spend on paperbacks as a reward. So I bought Farthing, Ha'penny, Half A Crown, Fifty Degrees Below, Six Of Crows and Ninth House on wob.com for £20.40. I hadn't read any Bardugo before but people do extol them.
  • Didn't happen: cutting the hedge, weeding the drive. I've been Very Indoors.
  • The conservatory did get tidied! It's not aesthetic yet, but I have some clean pots and clean compost and I have plans.
  • phone off friday and in the knife drawer. screen time for those five days was 21 & a half hours, of which 9 hours youtube. I guess that's not so bad.

intents for week 41:

  • omg touch grass (weed the drive, cut the hedge, sort houseplants)
  • plough on with the course notes
  • hope I can stay in the fiction-writing phase that came out of nowhere.
