w42 sunday review

well read and vaccinated

w42 sunday review

assessing the week from my habit tracker:

  • from the ten dailies, the scores were 5, 5, 1, 2, 6, 6. that's a week score of 41%. that's a scraped pass. what's wrong with my wednesdays? is it something wrong with my tuesday nights? i shall look at my journal closely to answer that.

matters of note:

  • had tasks in town monday & thursday. gave myself the other five days as recovery. it was unavoidable: I had to pick up library reservations and get vaccinated. how would you catch flu when you never see anyone, hooks? someone will deliver it. they never have before, hooks. maybe they did but it bounced off my vaccine.
  • cleared the paper magazine backlog. cut one of them (more of a catalogue, really) into hexagons for english paper piecing quilting. it's been on the List.
  • received and loaded a new (£10) mp3 player. in the listing photos it was a pleasant bay green but on arrival it was a howling acid green so I've given it a washi sticker wrap. the casing is metal. it still feels cold through the wrap. the menu navigation is not great - within different menu levels, a different button means back, isn't that crazy? but it's not so bad I can't learn it.
micro-usb! a headphone jack! and it couldn't take a monthly subscription if it WANTED to
  • I remembered that if I save youtube essay videos to Readwise Reader it will fetch the transcript so I can read it as an essay. (I've set everyone to talk at 1.75 but reading is still faster.) Still only on the laptop, I don't seem to be able to tell instapaper to fetch so that I could read it on the kobo, but it's a start.
  • phone off & in the knife drawer friday night, and my screen time was 27h for the five days. extinction burst.
  • i am so repelled by the structure of my current course. there's no arc. it's just a set of non-sequential assertions, like they're protecting us from the terror of the overview. this is gabbro, because it has this. in 1855 this happened. foliated means this. quartz is this. it's as though they wrote a real course on a deck of index cards, tossed the cards in the air and assembled the course I'm getting from the random fall.

I thought so too, but the other videos on the channel back this up. It's real.

intents for w43:

  • 100 words a day. no fireworks, just keep it rolling. just keep opening that tab.
  • we have the vet checkup on Monday. the girls are both perfectly healthy and it will be fine. they should invent a brain that shuts up.
  • bed before 2300 with the new mp3 player loaded with podcasts, instead of the phone.
when I say every year that september is the last month for blackberries this is what I mean
